Place Glacier (2006.08.12)
Two days beside the Place Glacier.
The first day we hiked up to the huts (built in the 60s for glacier research, and to watch the glacier melt from close by). The hike up follows Place Creek, a waterfall for much of the hike up.
Once we arrived at the huts we left our gear, crossed the glacier fed creek and climbed Mount Gardiner.
The next morning we climbed Gates peak. On the way up Gates Peak we noticed a single mountain goat up the scree, and on the way down a group of 6 mountain goats ran from our path when they heard us sliding down the scree. At one point the scree turned into an interesting creek/rockslide (see video).
